We originally began in 2005 as a simple set of forums to break free from the forums we were all being banned from for some of the most bogus reasons. It was never expected to become as popular as it has. We honestly thought given a week, our new forums would have failed just as so many have in the past. Fortunately, we were very wrong and our forums are beginning to grow stronger than ever. A few months after starting up our forums, we decided that forums weren't enough and we needed a full-blown website.

Our goal here at HerpFamily.com is to provide information on the proper care of many different species of herps (and also invertebrates) based on many of our members personal experiences. We also aim to provide how-to's as far as cage building and setups go. Much of the information you'll find here can probably be found on other forums and websites. We're just trying to compile it all into one place to make it easier for you to find.

Our forums are by far the most popular section of our site. Our members range from young to old and have many different hobbies and collections, but we all share a common bond--our love for our herps and our desire to meet others with the same passion. Our forums are intended to be informative, yet not so serious that the members are prevented from having any fun. By keeping our forums more laid back and informal our members have developed some bonds that you would rarely find on any other forums, yet at the same time, if you need some serious help they're always there to help you out.
